John 3:16

"For God So loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life" ( KJV )

John 3:16

Hmmm

Believeth *IN*

or

Believeth INTO

? ? ?

Ok. By far the most popular quoted verse of scripture EVER

Considering that is talking about obtaining 'everlasting life' (or not ) it is definitely worth taking more than 'just a casual glance'

>>> So, if you want to learn about a scripture (s) -the absolute best place to start is with the original word (s) -in this case in the Greek language.

>>> For purposes of making this something that folks will actually READ -"short and to the point"-I'm going to go right to the Greek that MATTERS

A

In the Greek, the word for *in* [in John 3:16, right above..] is EIS . (pronounced "Eice" ) [Look up whole Greek sentence here ]

Without exception, Every Time this Greek word is explained and "translated", its FIRST definition is

"INTO"

>>> (NOT "in" )

Here is another link, with the SAME translation..and "EIS" meaning "INTO"...

...NOT 'in"...

B

Now, lets look up some scripture references where "EIS" was translated :

1) "And when they were come INTO the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshiped him"- Matthew 2:11

2) "Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth INTO the belly, and is cast out into the draught?"- Matthew 15:17

3) "And He went INTO their synagogues throughout all Galilee, preaching and casting out the demons"-Mark 1:39

Finally, look at the following. If I am not mistaken...I BELIEVE it is of a man..on a tightrope :)

Now, I BELIEVE in this man on this tightrope. I bet he believes in himself, also :)  As far, as I am concerned..he can go on "believing" in himself...all eternity long. Believe, believe..believe.

Next picture. tightrope, again. With ONE difference.

See the guy ON TOP OF THE TIGHTROPE WALKER...holding on and 'clinging' for 'dear life' ?

That guy "clinging"?

He is NOT "Believing In"

He is not just "Believing On"

HE IS BELIEVING

INTO !!

"For God So loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever

believeth in (relies on, clings to, completely entrusts himself to...)

him should not perish but have everlasting life"
